Dr. Jeffrey D. Shearer, a Board Certified Optometric Physician, began his practice at Deerwood Family Eyecare in 1987. Dr. Shearer ensures that Deerwood Family Eyecare is equipped with state of the art tools for diagnosing and treating ocular related diseases, and he also stays informed of the latest advancements in eye care solutions so that he can offer the highest quality contacts and lenses to fit your needs. At Deerwood Family Eyecare, there is always a unique selection of designer eyewear for any budget. If you prefer contacts, Dr. Shearer is an expert in contact fitting. Patients and customers greatly appreciate the timely, reliable service they receive at Deerwood Family Eyecare and use us for all of their family eye care needs.

Education: University Of Florida for undergraduate studies followed by the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Graduated with a Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1985.

Katie Sherman – Practice Manager

Katie has been part of the Deerwood Family Eyecare team since 2018. She is passionate about patient communication and takes pride in making Deerwood Family Eyecare the best practice in Jacksonville. 

Katie first joined our practice in the technician department and, in 2020, took over as practice manager, where she is thriving. She specializes in insurance claims, explanation of vision and medical benefits, and handles all patient experience concerns.

Katie enjoys spending time with her 4 kids: Jaxon, Hendrix, Archer and Jovie. She loves college football and hosting family events.
